Real Estate Marketing

Real estate marketing has become big business in the United States. In this encyclopedia entry, we will discuss the various ways that real estate agents promote themselves and their properties.

There are actually two primary forms of real estate marketing, depending on what is being promoted:

  • Promoting property — This form of real estate marketing is used to market a home or other property that is for sale. To do this, agents will rely on such tools as direct mail postcards, newspaper listings, yard signs, house flyers, the Multiple Listing Service and more.
  • Promoting services — Real estate agents also use marketing to promote their services to potential clients (homeowners and future home buyers). To do this, agents will use a variety of marketing tools such as direct mail, websites, print advertising and more.

Both types of real estate marketing have evolved quite a bit in recent years. The Internet has a lot to do with this. For example, there are a lot of real estate search engines online today that you can use to search for homes. Many of these sites are highly advanced, offering access to the latest sales and listing data available.

As a result of this Internet evolution, real estate agents have had to adjust their personal marketing techniques as well. These days, agents are using a broader array of marketing tools to promote their services, including many web-based tools such as blogs and search engine marketing.
